Thailand top car exporter to Peru Peru is South America's third-largest country, with an area of 1,285,220 sq km (496,226 sq mi), extending about 1,287 km (800 mi) SE–NW and 563 km (350 mi) NE–SW. Comparatively, the area occupied by Peru is slightly smaller than the state of Alaska. It is bounded on the N by Ecuador and Colombia, on the E by Brazil and Bolivia, on the S by Chile, and on the W by the Pacific Ocean, with a total land boundary length of 5,536 km (3,440 mi) and a coastline of 2,414 km (1,500 mi).

Peru's best car exporter importer from Thailand

Passenger vehicles must be less than five years old, commercial vehicles less than eight years old. The importation of new automobiles is permitted, after paying taxes of 45.38% of their value. Duty is calculated by depreciating the value of an equivalent new item by 10 percent annually for up to five years. The remaining balance is dutiable at 15 percent. The importation of automobiles with five years of use is permitted, after paying taxes of 71.81% of their value. Certificate of inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas) is also required for clearance.

Peru Import Rules

Passenger vehicles must be less than five years old, commercial vehicles less than eight years old. Chassis number must be same with manufacture of year.

Tariffs:

Trucks, buses and minibuses for public transport have a 4 percent tariff.
The tariff applied to cars is 12 percent.
Automotive parts (HTS 8407-08 and 8708) are subject to customs duties ranging from 4 to 12 percent.

Taxes:

19 percent Vat Added Tax (VAT)
Imported new cars and light trucks are subject to a Selective Consumption Tax (SCT) of 10 percent based on the sum of the C.I.F. value and the tariff amount. Imported used vehicles are subject to an SCT of 30 percent. All other imported vehicles and automotive parts are exempt from the SCT. Automotive parts are not subject to the consumption tax.

Imported new vehicles with 24 seats or less are subject to a Selective Consumption Tax (SCT) of 30 percent based on the sum of the C.I.F. value and the tariff amount. Imported used vehicles with 24 seats or less are subject to an SCT of 45 percent. Imported vehicles with 25 or more seats, whether new or used, are not subject to any SCT. Automotive parts are not subject to the consumption tax.

Other Restrictions: Bans on used vehicles based on age: Peru does not allow the entry of used personal use vehicles that are more than 5 years old and does not allow the entry of used commercial vehicles that are more than 8 years old. New or used vehicles with right-hand steering gear entering through the southern ports of Ilo and Matarani, which are reconditioned locally, are exempt from the SCT. (Reconditioning refers to converting the steering gear to the left side.) Peru also requires pre-shipment valuation inspections.
